FMP – Project Rationale

Throughout the year I have been on this course I have learned how to plan, how to improve upon my script and how to edit I also picked up new techniques and little tricks along the way like how to change the audio and colour correction.  I want to further hone my script writing and story telling skills and become the best director I can be. I have gotten better at leading others and making them see what I vision the story to look like. It means a lot to me how far I’ve come because I feel like I am one step closer to achieving my dream of becoming a filmmaker a reality. Before I entered this course, I had a small amount of knowledge about editing and filming I didn’t really know how to setup or use a camera but after I entered this course, I quickly learned how to use a camera and also improved on being a leader because I had never actually led people and made a few short films which turned out very well so I am a lot more confident in my ability to lead.

My project concept is a story about a man who comes back from war and suffers from PTSD all of his close friends are gone and he feels alone and hasn’t got anyone else he suffers from depression and after a while he just can’t take it and decides it’s not fair that he survived but his comrades died so he goes up into a forest takes a gun and sits down now as he is about to kill himself he hears a voice it is all of his close friends they are all back and they try talking to him about it to him and help him try to move on they make him realize that there is a way to move forward and that if he works hard and accepts the fact that they are gone he can find and live a new happy life and that they will always be with him no matter what. The theme of the movie is accepting loss and forgiveness and overcoming your personally struggles its about someone suffering from loneliness and sadness that after he hits rock bottom his friends come to help and give him the push he needs to move forward.

How I’m going to evaluate my work is pretty simple first I will do weekly reflections until I finish my FMP I will write about what went wrong what went right and how I overcame that problem after everything is done the pre-production the filming just the whole thing I will evaluate it at the end saying what’s good what’s bad and what I could maybe had done different. I will also evaluate at different stages of production not just the end but at the end when everything is finished, I will get people to watch my film and see what they have to say about it. I will be working with multiple people and the positives of that is I will make a better film and save time doing it myself the quality will be better but the negatives are people not showing up or people complaining about how I do stuff and wasting time.
